MARATHON HORIZONS

Marathon Horizons is a non profit company whose aim is to provide information on athletic and cultural matters. The basic activity is sailing, especially for children and adults with learning problems and those who have special needs.
George Giavouroglou and George Kefallonitis had the idea, after their collaboration with the Special Olympics, 2002, to create “Marathon Horizons”. Both are athletes and sailing instructors, specializing in Optimist, Laser, 4.20 and 4.70. As instructors and escorts for the Greek Sailing Team in the Special Olympics in Shanghai, their athletes won a gold and a silver medal.
For many years, a sailing academy had been a dream in the minds of the founders. They wanted to create a warm, pleasant, organized, working environment, where in the begging, thought play and later with methodical work, they could create “Budding New Captains”.
So, today, after years of “many storms”, hard work and determination, they have succeeded in making their dream come true and have created a unique athletic and cultural establishment for children and adults. The Sailing Academy at Schinia, hosts “Marathon Horizons” in a friendly accessible environment specially equipment with ramps and all the prescribed necessities for people with special needs |
